We Alleviate Animal Suffering
More animals are farmed for food than ever before—over 8,000 crore land animals and around 12,500 crore fish each year worldwide. The vast majority of these animals are raised at factory farms and killed through cruel industrial methods.
Around the globe, factory farms trap animals in dark, dreary warehouses; barren wire cages; and cold metal crates barely large enough to hold them. These animals endure gruesome mutilations without pain relief and the most terrifying, painful slaughter methods. The innate value of their lives and their sentience disregarded, they are reduced to mere commodities, even though they are no different from our beloved dogs and cats in their capacity for feeling and connection. We have a moral duty to these animals to end industrial animal agriculture.

How We Alleviate Suffering
We encourage corporations to adopt and implement animal welfare policies that eliminate the cruellest practices inflicted on animals in our food system, including the most extreme confinement. By doing so, we stand to create a critical mass of opposition to these practices and build support for more compassionate systems, such as production of plant-based alternatives and meat cultivated from animal cells instead of live animals.
Once we achieve this critical mass through food-industry reforms, changes to legislation and government regulations will be more attainable. As cruel practices are decreasingly viewed as the norm, both corporations and the public will increasingly reject them.
These legislative and regulatory advancements will ensure that the practices we seek to end are banned across the board and that these bans are enforceable. Such changes will further drive the food industry towards a future rooted in plant-based and cultivated alternatives to factory-farmed products.
