Mercy for Animals ‘Serves’ Stark Reminder of Link Between Meat Consumption and Violence on World Peace Day

Sivangi Dash July 16, 2025

Mercy For Animals India Foundation staged a powerful demonstration in the lead-up to World Peace Day urging a shift to plant-based food to reduce animal cruelty.

PUNE — Ahead of World Peace Day, Mercy For Animals India staged a poignant demonstration in front of the Westside Mall in Pune, highlighting the connection between peace and animal welfare.

The demonstration, themed “Peace Begins on Your Plate,” featured activists in meat costumes lying on a giant plate surrounded by vegetables, with a huge knife and fork beside them. This striking visual conveyed the harsh reality of animal suffering and urged passersby to reconsider their dietary choices.

“Animals raised for food endure immense suffering because of our thoughtless dietary choices. By choosing a plant-based lifestyle, we can create a more compassionate and peaceful world for all” said Kushal Sammaddar, Organizing Coordinator at Mercy For Animals India.

Through events like these, Mercy for Animals India aims to spark a broader dialogue about the ethical treatment of animals and the profound impact our food choices have on world peace.
