Mercy For Animals Brings a Heartfelt Message to Kolkata This Valentine’s Day

Mercy For Animals February 14, 2026

Valentine’s Day in Kolkata got a whole lot more heartfelt this year, thanks to the amazing volunteers from Mercy For Animals.

The team took to the streets with roses in hand, spreading a simple but powerful message: choose love, choose compassion, and consider plant-based eating. From handing out flowers to striking up fun conversations, their goal was to remind everyone that love isn’t just for humans—it’s for all living beings.

Mercy For Animals emphasizes that Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love that should extend to all living beings. Choosing plant-based foods is a powerful way to show compassion and contribute to a more sustainable and caring world.

The timing couldn’t be more important. India is the world’s 4th largest meat producer, slaughtering over 10.5 million tonnes of animals every year, with half of that coming from chickens alone. Mercy For Animals’ Valentine’s action in Kolkata was a fun, eye-catching reminder that choosing plant-based meals is one of the kindest ways to spread love.

The demonstration even caught the attention of the media; The Telegraph India featured the event in their coverage of Valentine’s Day awareness activities at Victoria Memorial.

This Valentine’s Day, you can join the movement too! Download Mercy For Animals’ free Vegan Starter Guide (VSG) to get easy tips, delicious recipes, and everything you need to embrace plant-based living and show love for all beings.

So let’s take inspiration from these volunteers: share love, show compassion, and maybe even try a plant-based meal or two. Because love really does come in all forms, and every small act of kindness counts.
